The DOJ case against James Comey is likely toast

Of course it never should have been brought in the first place. Even DOJ prosecutors themselves wrote a memo saying that there was no case. People quit/were fired and Trump installed Lindsey Halligan as interim US Attorney to prosecute the case. This was, of course, after Dementia Don made the mistake of publicly tweeting Pam Bondi to go after Comey, Leticia James, and John Bolton. Former FBI Director James Comey has publicly said that he is not afraid of Trump's attempt at revenge for the Robert Mueller investigation of his 2016 election activities with Russia. His lawyers immediately started arguing that the indictment was malicious and that Halligan was not qualified since she is "interim". The law pundits in the news and social media started said that there was a good chance that the judge would throw out the case. Well today it got even more likely. The Justice Department was questioned today by the judge presiding over the case and they admitted that the "operative indictment" was never presented to the full grand jury. That is a ginormous procedural mistake that is likely the final nail in Trump's revenge prosecution of Comey. Trump's former lawyer said today that the case is now DOA. This is what happens when you put unqualified people into important positions. Look how things worked out for Trump with Alina Habba representing him in his felony trial. Convicted of 34 felonies. Experienced DOJ prosecutors and staff explicitly said that there wasn't enough evidence for a case against Comey so Trump went to a lackey who would do his bidding. The case has been royally screwed up. SO. MUCH. WINNING.
