I landed for a holiday in Almaty, Kazakhstan. I enjoyed the holiday, but what I enjoyed was watching tropical animals surviving in sub-zero temperatures at the Almaty zoo. It's a beautiful place, and all credit to the organizers and the administrators for keeping these tropical animals happy..
One of the animals that caught my interest was a hippopotamus. It's a pretty large animal and normally in such cold temperatures cannot survive, but here it is kept in a heated enclosure with warm water. I have attached a photo of the beast in the water, and he seems to be pretty happy. I'm not in favor of Zoos because the animals get caged, but then in countries that do not have such wildlife, how do they educate their children on the various animals in the world? You must visit Almaty, which is the capital of Kazakhstan it's a beautiful place..

It's a good photo... People who don't naturally have those animals could show their children pictures and videos of the animals, just like we learned when we were children. There really isn't a need for zoos, in my opinion.
