Making Too Much For Help

Well it has happened once again where I apparently make too much income to qualify for medicaid now so they've removed my kids from their insurance and placed them on a different insurance plan from CHIP. I feel like they are all the same system so I don't know why they say i'm not qualified for any assistance if this is kind of like assistance. I had this happen once before when I only had my son and was still married to his dad where I was making barely 900 a check and his father made a little more than I did at the time. We didn't qualify for food assistance already and I was already without medical insurance. This was a year prepandemic and I ended up having to pay for my son's insurance but was grateful it was only $47 a month which I could manage until pandemic hit and I was between jobs and our income had taken a hit. I then was able to get medicaid for my son once more. I still didn't qualify until I ended up Pregnant with my daughter end of the first pandemic year and then I was able to get myself insured as well and my daughter after she was born. I am praying I don't have to pay a high amount for both of them because I just took another hit at work where they have reduced my 70hrs a week to just 42hrs which cuts my take home in half almost and I can't afford to have that happen. Life is a little stressful at the moment.

The world has become a difficult place to live except for a few. Take care.I hope your problems are solved. I am never qualified for anything either but my daughters are not with me anymore.

I can’t imagine how stressful it is for you right now. Maybe you can save money by going to food banks for awhile. I wish I had better suggestions than that, but I’m at a loss right now what to suggest.

I appreciate the kind words and thats enough. I have kids so I have no choice but to do what I must to make sure they have all they need. Most food banks are already spread pretty thin and we still aren't struggling to find a meal and I pray we don't get to that point

One should have, at all times, 6 months worth of salary tucked away in an emergency fund. A change in work status should never be cause for alarm in the short term. Money can be challenging, but it only becomes that way when people allow themselves to be burdened by it, rather than take the necessary steps to be prepared for whatever comes our way. Jobs are not guaranteed. Neither are paychecks, and we should never treat them that way. It's hard, but not impossible. Trust me on that.
