Life gives us trials but there are joys hidden behind.

Last few days were full of trials for our family. Some of them I shared in my last few discussions. My medical student daughter's bank account was facing issues for the last two weeks. She pays her food bills and replacement charges to her intern mates from this account. The state government gives her a minimal salary for her work in the hospital. That's a huge relief for us , her parents. We don't have to give her money for her expenses. Two weeks ago to her shock, she found her bank account blocked or frozen. Suddenly she was without any money and she needed to pay her food bills and so on. She tried to open her account in the bank branch near her hospital. The branch told her to complete the unblocking process in the branch where her account was created. That needed her to present herself at the bank. At such a short notice she could not get any reservation on any train. Yet she travelled down home, a seven hour journey by train. As soon as she arrived, I took her to the bank and together we filled up the necessary forms and completed the related formalities. By the time we returned home it was half past two. The bank official told us the account would be unblocked in six / seven days. Getting reservations for the return journey was another trial. Thanks to a friend she got a berth on the train back. But unfortunately, she dropped her mobile phone at the station. It got damaged to such extent that she was unable to speak with us for all through the journey. She did give us the message about the mishap through a co-traveller's phone. She reached her college at 4 in the morning and caught three hours of sleep before she could join her internship duty. During the day she managed to get her phone repaired. Whatever tensions she faced all these few days I hope, she can now peacefully resume her work. It's evening. Our tensions have passed. Thank God.

Oh dear. Sometimes, when things go wrong, they go wrong in a really big way.

Yes Judy, as the rector of my college said so wisely, such troubles are part of life and we have to face them.

Our child has five more months of internship to go. It's a hectic and trying time but I hope it will pass smoothly.

That is an enormous amount of stress, but it sounds like she (and you) handled it well. They certainly owe her an apology though for freezing it, although they probably would never do so. I’m glad you can see the positives in the situation.

Apologise, they will never but I hope they unblock the daughter's account as soon as possible. That will be a favour big enough.
