Sci Fi literature and movies – scientific prophesy?

There is one thing that keeps me so much in love with sci-fi literature and movies; they seem to foresee how the world could be many years ahead. Robotics for instance has been in narration in novels published as back as early 1900s. The late 20th century movies also captured many robots being utilized in wars, transport and general service. Interestingly, a few years later, what was seen in movies is now commonplace. Robots are currently used in wars, in the transport sector, in hospitality and even construction! I have no doubt, Sci-Fi literature is scientific prophesy.

I have noticed that as well. The original Star Trek tv series used a communicator that reminds me of the cell phone I use. As for their teleportation device I am not so sure it would work. Was Star Trek ever shown in your country? Here is a trailer of that show from 1966.
