Zen story: The old Zen master's repeating dreams were linked to more than just to him

The old Zen master had been having a series of repeating dreams, over the last month, where he had found himself in a second-hand bookshop, looking for a diary book, that he had once had.
This diary book had been given to him by his own last master, and was a recording of the koans, that the master had created, for his students to try to solve.
He had given it to another Zen master, in another monastery, 40 years ago, when he had admired it, during a visit to his monastery.
After 5 such dreams, he found it, in a shop, and he bought it, in that last dream.
Then, when he woke up, he found this same book, was now on his bedside table.
He didn't know where it had come from, but the other master had also been having recurring dreams, that he should return this book to its rightful owner, so that night, he had returned it, while the other master slept.
This shows us how all is linked to all; even our dreams are linked.
We are all connected by love to God, and to each other too, by this same love.
And so, love connects all to all, and all to God, so everything comes full circle in the end, as love moves stuff eventually to where it is meant to be, and to end up, where it's meant to end up.
The old Zen master never did find out how the book came back to him. It did, and that was enough for him.
He also remembered this saying of his old master too:
"An empty life is like a book left unread."

Interesting. My dreams keep me guessing, I have dreamt a specific dream and woken up gone to the bathroom returned and suddenly I am back into the dream again like a part 2 movie,

My brother tells me that he does that too.
If I get up to go to the bathroom, I usually forget my dream when I go back to bed, so I do not get up right away, but go over my dream a couple of times in my mind, before I get up, and then I remember it better.
Funny enough, I have a lot of dreams where I am in some city, and looking for a public toilet to use too, and maybe me wanting to go to the toilet has triggered this dream, just before I wake up to actually go.

When we are obsessed with finding a solution that looks beyond us, we might get tips through our subconscious mind that is activated during our dreams.
I have had a such few lucky breaks and, hey presto, I get over tough situations through my dreams when they linger on in my thoughts and with earnest endeavor to resolve them.
I take care not to wish harm to anybody though I want a nudge so that they become aware that they have wronged me.
At times, I am happy that some dreams are just that and not a reality. They are more of nightmares and I am happy to wake up to familiar surroundings! So I am relieved to be alive than having to fight some insurmountable battles alone when the dreams lead me to another world. .

Sometimes, I too am glad to wake up from a dream to know that it is just a dream, and not a part of my real life, so to speak. On the other hand, though, I enjoy my dreams, especially when I meet up with my deceased mother once more, and do everyday things with her again, like eating breakfast together again.
Dreams do seem to help us to live a better life in our life, and mostly they come to us, in some way, to benefit us, I think.

@Shiva49 A man that I knew over forty years ago appeared in my dreams the other night, and he told me that his father was still alive too. He was older than me, so, if his father was really still alive, he would be seriously old now, as well.
Such, forgotten memories, and acquaintances, can jump out to meet us in our dreams.

@innertalks Yes, at least they live on in our memories and appear in our dreams.
It is said they are still with us but not in physical form.
Occasionally I do enquire how they are doing while I am still fighting my battles here for survival.
I ask for guidance too but do not want to be a nuisance to them!
However, I do wonder what they do wherever they are and do they know they were with us on this blessed planet.

And dreams to me are something very ethereal, even of their own spiritual plane.

Yes, I agree.
Most dreams have a spiritual nature, and if we look deeply into them, we can find some other world answers for ourselves in them too.
