Does swimming in cold water reduces depression?

December 2, 2025 2:04am CST
Cold swimming according to some research experts have become a more potent way of dealing with depression and some even claim the therapy is more efficient than medication in many instances. Will you rather take to this therapy than go for medication for depression?

Scientific research is still limited and mixed on its effectiveness and people should think twice before swimming in cold water. I would surely NOT, I do not want to catch a pneumonia.

I am not a doctor and I haven't heard such kind of method. I just heard that eating banana and chocolate and having a sunbath or sports will be good to reduce the depression.

According to information available online, it appears that it may help alleviate symptoms of depression; however, outcomes can differ significantly from one individual to another, as the nature and severity of depression vary. While some individuals may experience positive effects, professional guidance from qualified mental health practitioners remains essential to ensure an accurate assessment and to determine whether this approach would be effective for a specific person.

Well, swimming in cold water seems to be something that would have shorter term effects than medication, and it also seems a painful way to swim. I would think exercise of any kind would help depression, as research tends to show. Cold water though? I would think I’d want foolproof results before I’d do it.

Humans can try anything but cold air can also cause blood clots, depression is not a trivial matter maybe meditation can cure it.
