It's actually a phrase, not a word, but I'll let Oxford Dictionary run with it.
While I didn't know the term "rage bait" once I learned the definition I clearly saw it everywhere and it is most certainly the word of the year.
Rage Bait is defined as online content deliberately designed to elicit anger or outrage by being frustrating, provocative, or offensive.(Oxford).
The internet has developed a toxic culture. Just like mankind always does, they've turned something that could have been used for good and knowledge and turned into something divisive and bad. The internet is nothing less now than a negative impact on emotions and social interactions.
The "bait" part of the phrase is just what you think it is. They write a controversial provocative title to lure you in to clicking on the article by getting your blood boiling over the topic.
Do you know this phrase, "rage bait?" Do you see it online?

I see it on FB alot. It's quite unfortunate people feel the need to be so malicious.

First of all, thank you for enriching my vocab. I didn't know the meaning of the phrase, nor did I ever try to know its meaning.
Thank you again
