I couldn't help myself

I hope every 1 will have a safe weekend & even though it's early a safe blessed Xmas & new year, I know I will. You ever have them days when you got to have something but you rather wait to see if you really need it ? I do, & well I think I've put it off long enough, so I ordered it & it will be here around the 15th if not sooner, I ordered a canister filter for my 30 gal tank that I have all the 1/2 grown goldfish fry in that I saved about 4 mons ago not realizing I had new goldfish fry in a plant pot I took out of the pond. I took it out cause the fish had done killed the plant so there wasn't nothing left but to take it out & I thought if I put it in another tub with fish water maybe it'd come back & I'd do something else with it, well the plant never came back, but a few weeks went by & I saw something moving in the tub & I thought it was mosquito larva. Nope, a few more wks went by "nothing but the plant" & about 10 inches of water to keep the plant alive in that tub, & I got to looking & that's when I seen them a gob of fish in that tub OH MY WORD ! I thought I was dreaming or lost my ever loving mind. I freaked & got my 10 gal tank I keep for new plant's I put in the garden to give them a good start but it was empty so I put all the fish in there with the dead plant so they would feel safe & a place to hide in. Being winter was just around the corner I brought them in & transferred them to a bigger tank & they have really grown, so now I need a canister filter for the 30 gal tank their in so the water stays cleaner cause the hob isn't doing the job so it's time to upgrade their filter. I don't know how many goldfish I have in the tank but I can say it's about 20, I hope they can stay in the tank till spring cause I don't have nowhere else to put them. Most of them isn't even a inch long yet but a few are so by the time spring gets here they should be big enough to put in the pond where they'll grow bigger. That's when I will count them so I will know how many I have in the pond cause right now I have 17 in there & with what I have in the tank here will be another ? I'm so glad I didn't throw the plant away or I would have lost a lot of fry this has been a year of just 1 of many surprises after another for me what's next ?

Now that they are spawning I hope to get more from them next year & when they get big enough I can start selling them so they don't over crowd the pond.

@just4him yeah it helps to thin the pond out every so often & when you have more than you should in a pond that's when you have problems that ponds don't need to thrive.

I sure hope so cause when they get big enough I can take them to the pet store & sell them & get more from the bait & tackle store & start all over again if they don't spawn any time soon.

Yes it was, I never expected to have goldfish fry so soon after I set their pond up in the permanent area & covered it with shade cloth to keep the water from getting so nasty like they were in when I 1st got them from a lady, I got the pond & 10 goldfish for 150$, the water they were in stunk OML ! ! ! no filter & a foot deep in MUCK, I couldn't believe they were living in such a nasty stinky pond like they were. I guess after I took time to clean the pond out really good & put fresh clean water in there & hooked up a strong filter for it & covered it to keep it clean & cool they loved it so much they decided to reward me with a nice batch of fry for rescuing them.

since I did pull the plant out I did put a long planter box in the pond for them so maybe they will spawn again in it next time.
