I had a plastic cup in the microwave to heat up some coffee..Granted plastic isn't really the think to put in a microwave, but short term to heat something up for a bit is usually OK. This cup was pretty durable so I didn't think too much about it, but it burnt a small hole in the side. I won't be trying that again, although I know I have put others in there..must have been the acrylic on the side. Did you ever burn anything in the microwave .besides popcorn or other food?

I have burned popcorn on several occasions, but in terms of dishes probably not many. I think styrofoam can melt though.

@snowy22315 - Styrofoam can surely melt in the microwave. It's a material I dislike.

It's been awhile since a microwave mishap. Sometimes though I may have accidentally put something with aluminum or metal in there..but I am usually very careful about that.

I almost always use glass to heat things up.

My Meals on Wheels trays will start to warp when I heat food up. I haven't burned anything besides a little pizza.
