Should I clean out my email?

I have a total of over 118,000 pages of emails in my main account. 
I have just neglected to keep it cleaned and organized over the years. Is it even necessary? I mean, what could happen if you don't clean out your email?
And say I did want to clean it out, what is the easiest way to delete many emails at once? I have some that I need to keep but most of them can go.

I will get a whole new email before I do it one at a time.

@AngelNelson I know, my niece did the same as you do and finally she missed important emails from her boss.
