The lady in the parlour has a lot to advise. 'Why don't you colour your hair?' 'Use a dryer'... Which is your favorite brand in serum? Why don't you get a facial done? I have curly hair and I want to grow old naturally. Spending hours over looks is not my forte and my carefully measured responses do not seem to appease her. Now I respond with either a smile or a nod. Why is she behind me? I wonder. Obviously to sell her stuff... 'No' I tell myself. She misses me. Among all her customers, I am probably the one who gives her less time. However, I go to her...she has that tenderness and care of a compassionate woman. She's meticulous. She plays these old film songs which sets the mood when she understands I prefer to listen to the song and not anything else.
