Salt usage dilemma: Cook with food or add at the table?

There is a common discussion about ow to use salt safely. Some argue that salt must be cooked with food; adding salt to cooked / ready food at the table is not right. But my question remains; why then is it commonly referred to as “table salt”? What is your opinion, do you think adding salt to ready food at the table as you eat is bad for one’s health?

I don't think it matters much unless for medical reasons you're supposed to have, or not have, more salt.

Most things I leave it for the person eating to decide. I like more salt than my husband does

I leave salt to the eater when it’s something like corn or maybe eggs. That is a personal preference. If I’m making fried chicken, that’s got to be seasoned with salt as I’m making it to get the full effect.
