This is a 1958 novelty Christmas song that became famous due to the Chipmunks—Alvin, Theodore, and Simon. Animated chipmunks that became very popular and made this song a Christmas classic, especially for children. At Christmastime 1963 my parents suddenly realized I had developed into an intelligent, innovative, and imaginative little girl. That Christmas they had purchased the 45 rpm record of The Christmas Song because I loved the song and was madly in love with the Chipmunks. We had a console cabinet where on one side was a record player and on the other the TV. I quickly learned to press a plastic piece in the middle of the record so I could play my favorite Christmas song on the record player. I had it all set up and waited for the Chipmunks to start singing on a Christmas TV special. Once they started singing, I put on the record and turned up the volume. Suddenly our apartment had a cacophony of chipmunks singing. My parents went by the golden rule of “don’t squash genius,” and they laughed and waited until the song ended and peace returned to the apartment, and they had one very happy daughter. My favorite version besides the original comes from the film “Look Who’s Talking Now” with Kirstie Alley and John Travolta.

@RasmaSandra I thought the same thing about Kirstie Alley when I was watching the clip. It’s so sad she’s gone.

@LooeyVille well you don't have to listen to them then. They don't bother me I even enjoy their movie The Chipmunk Adventure,

@RasmaSandra I wasn't being critical of your post or your song choice, I was just indicating that they're not my cup of tea. I used to like them but now I find them annoying.

How cute is that? I'm glad your parents were kind enough to wait for the finish of the song.
