Took Mother-In-Law Shopping

Now one thing that we do not do is take the mother-in-law shopping. She is a shop-a-holic / spend-a-holic.
We buy and pay for and bring her all of her groceries.
We don't take her to the grocery because it's exhausting and she never knows what she needs or wants and it takes hours. It's just honestly easier on us to keep tabs on what she needs and pick it up ourselves and bring it to her.
Now normally on Fridays her sister-in-law comes and gets her and takes her out to lunch and will take her shopping. That's the only shopping she gets, which is quite more than enough. Her favorite store is Marshalls.
But today while we had her out at lunch, I took her inside a cute little boutique just for BROWSING and then I took her to Walgreens and let her go wild up and down the aisles. She managed to spend $95 at Walgreens on "stuff."
The sister-in-law hasn't taken her out in 3 weeks because the sister-in-law has been sick, so mother-in-law desperately needed a shopping trip of sorts.

It made her happy and she has the money now that we're paying for her groceries, so we just let her do it this time. It won't be often, but today was a special "treat" for her.

I wouldn't want to take her shopping, either. That would be exhausting...
When mom was still alive, she'd call every day and would say she needed to go shopping. She'd buy bread today and milk tomorrow instead of having a list of things to buy. It was irritating. I finally told her to call on one of the other 15 kids part of the time.

I am so glad you gave her that pleasure. She might not realize how good this can be for her own benefit, Like they say when the going gets rough, the shopping begins. That is something my mom made up in Latvian, and I am translating.
