U. S. President George Washington Never Knew That Dinosaurs Existed

That's an odd fact to know, isn't it? Well, Snopes says it's true. Although in 1677 a scientist named Robert Plot found a large bone that he drew an illustration of he thought it was similar to a human femur and thought it was maybe an elephant bone but then decided it was the bone of some ancient giant human. So the first OFFICIAL scientific publication tying a fossil or bone to the now-extinct dinosaur wasn't until 1842. This was 43 years after President Washington had died. Isn't that kind of weird to know that? Kind of puts a timeline on our science we take for granted today.

It was a definitely a different world back then. Although it might be controversial, I do think that some of the fall of religion over time has come from a wealth of having more knowledge about things and how they work. Granted, even today, with all we know, there's still a ton we don't know, and even what we do know, especially in the realm of science, might simply be educated guesses and nothing more. We only know what we know until we know something else, as crazy or confusing as that statement may sound.

That is one of the reasons I love the technology age, I learn so much more than I ever knew.

We've come such a long way with technology in those years. I wonder what Washington would think of the world today?
