How Many of You Stick Your Finger To Monitor Your Blood Sugar?

I'm not diabetic, but I'm pre-diabetic, so I monitor my blood sugar.
Once a week I stick one of my fingers with a lancet and use the glucose monitor to see where my blood sugar situation stands.
I used to have one of those spring-loaded devices that ejected the needle to poke my finger, but now I just manually take a lancet and jab myself. How do you do it?
I alternate fingers and hands. This morning I hit pretty deep and bled a lot. But at least I didn't have to jab myself multiple times trying to get enough blood.
Do you have scars on your fingers from years of jabbing yourself?
How often do you check your blood sugar?

The doctor calls me diabetic even though my blood sugar is still in the pre-diabetic range. I stick my left thumb for the blood drop needed to check my blood sugar because it's the only finger I don't use to type with.
I use the spring-loaded lancet to jab myself with. The spring-loaded lancet is pre-set for my thumb. I just bleed the one drop and I'm done. Nope, no scars even though I jab myself twice a day.
I'm sorry you have scars from it.

I don't know if I have scars or not - none on the outside, but I assumed the multiple stabs would cause scarring on the inside.
Interesting about your thumb. I had always heard you can't use your thumb for blood sticks. I don't know why but that's what was in my head.

@LooeyVille It's not "recommended" but when I offer my thumb at the doctor's office, they accept it as the site for the jab. (It's not recommended because you can easily stab too deep and cause excessive bleeding.)

Perhaps I too am a prediabetic though no one has told me so. I get my blood sugar test at two to three months interval. I call a blood sample collector. He takes the samples to a lab and gets the tests done. It's perhaps an old method but I'm comfortable with it.

I'm pre-diabetic; but I don't test my blood sugar. Every 6 months my PCP orders labs for me. I try to cut back on my sugar consumption.

@LooeyVille It's too bad you can't eat it in moderation.

@LindaOHio Nope, it's all or nothing for me. Lifelong problem. I can eat other things in moderation, but not chocolate. It's a real addiction.

I gave up chocolate 9 days ago. So far, so good.
