Maybe we’ll see by the light of the fire.

Yesterday, there was a lot of noise in my breezeway. I opened my door at the same time the lady across from me did. We looked, and they were hanging fire extinguishers on each floor. I commented on my surprise they were doing it, and she said yeah, but they won’t fix the lights in our breezeway. That launched us into the discussion about how it isn’t the bulbs, but the wiring, and going up and down the stairs is a lawsuit waiting to happen. She said she’s been after them, and I said I had too. She said she even told in the inspector. Guys, you can’t see your hand right in front of your face at night. Someone could jump you and you’d never see it coming. But hey, if we need the extinguisher maybe we can read the instructions by the light of the fire.

You could always put up some of those battery powered led lights from the dollar store...

I’ve read this and I have to wonder, isn’t there a fire extinguisher in each apartment? It’s a law here. And by law they have to come once a year to check the charge and certify it. The fire extinguisher hangs on the wall I my utility room.
I’ve said it before and I will say it again, not trying to be irritating, but call code enforcement!! They are in every state. They have to provide you with lighting, hot water, etc. This is ridiculous. They need to get it together.

I thought the inspector would enforce code. And no, there is no fire extinguisher in my apartment EXCEPT for one permanently affixed to the stove hood. If a grease fire starts, that fire extinguisher automatically goes off. But it isn’t law here to have one in each apartment, that I actually know (and I know little, lol).

@MarieCoyle I don’t know. I’m pretty sure she’s a city inspector.

Maybe they installed them as self-defense weapons in case someone does try to jump you.

Well, fire extinguishers are legal requirements per state fire code, but lighting is a maintenance issue.

It’s law and they have to follow it. It’s totally wrong that they are not in compliance.
