When the wrapping of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot pilot finished this summer Sarah Michele Gellar received a nostalgic gift from the director Cloe Zhao. She is a superfan of the original series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. (This is actually a sequel to the original, but the media calls it a reboot). The gift was a golden umbrella, a copy of the one gifted her by her classmates in acknowledgement of the many times she saved their lives. It was one of the most touching scenes from one of the episodes of the series' 7 seasons that was on from 1997 until 2003.
The pilot episode is now setting in limbo since the series has not yet been officially picked up by Hulu and may go to another carrier. It could come out as late as 2027. It is yet to be determined what will become of this pilot.

I enjoy the dialogue and have always enjoyed vampires and strong women.

I hope the pilot drops on whatever app and we have this sequel to watch. It's taking so long I am getting inpatient.

Golden umbrella? As opposed to the golden parachutes some execs get when leaving their position?

Perhaps that is where Whedon got the idea.
