Mid-Dec to mid-Jan hindus avoid mundane activities to ensure complete focus on God.we do many spiritual activities because elders said one day worship during this period is equaling 1000 years of worship.as a part of this, we did rangoli and lit diyas at temple.

@Kusumakrishna If according to my religion it is an obligation in my area, I don't know how to respond to it in your area, because our religions are different.

They look beautiful. The main Lakshmi puja is yet to come on the 13th and 14th of January where we pray the Goddess for abundance.

@Kusumakrishna In Bengal we call it " Posh Sankranti". All states pray Goddess Laskmi in different ways.

You are right Mine is a religious family.We worship everyday. I follow the advice of my parents to recite "SitaRam" as long as I can.
