Hello. Happy New Year and all that.
I was thinking about you (myLot people in general) yesterday, completely at random, and realised I'd been neglecting you.
A lot of things have probably happened since I was last here. There are also, most definitely, things that have not happened that I should have done.
I have, as always, taken on too many things. I'm still volunteering at our local charity-run, volunteer-run theatre. We had a panto before Christmas. I worked on a bar for there for most of the shows. I did get to see the show as I was asked to do front of house for one of the shows. I'm not a big fan of panto but this was fantastic. It's a great company and an amazing show. It was Aladdin, which is something I like anyway. I don't generally watch Disney films but I have willingly watched Aladdin several times. Of course, the panto is quite different from the film. I've said I might audition for the next panto. Luckily, the auditions for that will be after another show I'm in!
The next show I'll be in is 'We Will Rock You', which I'll be doing with the same musical theatre company as I did 'Witches of Eastwick' last year. I'd like to get back into straight theatre, doing proper acting in proper plays. I don't know if it's just not a popular thing for people to watch or just that not many theatre companies have survived. My younger son is in our local amateur theatre company that does proper plays (mostly comedy) but I don't think it would be fair on him if I joined that one.
I've also taken on the role of trustee for a local charity that supports autistic people and their families. As of next weekend, I'll add more volunteering to my repertoire when I do my first bar shift at the small theatre in the next town. I've also asked to join their technical team (sound, lighting, stage crew) and have asked to join the technical team at the theatre where I already volunteer.
I've got some things I intend to investigate regarding new ventures, possibly involving one or both of my sons. My older son, despite having trained to be a teacher, has been working as a driver's mate. He gets paid well and gets to visit much of the UK (well, he spends most of his working time in Scotland). My younger son starts university later this year. He'd originally chosen not to continue his education after college but he's found it difficult to find work, whether in his chosen field or anything else. The course he's doing will see him get industry experience while studying so that should be good.
I have four granddaughters now. Number 4 was due on my birthday in October but was a little early and arrived right at the beginning of October. We are yet to meet her but hoping to see all the girls next month.
On Sunday, I'll be heading away with my big son to celebrate his birthday in Liverpool. We have plans including abseiling (rapelling), seeing a play (Inspector Morse), and board games at a gaming café. We do have snow forecast but I'm hoping that will only be tonight so it doesn't affect our train to Liverpool or any of our activities!
There are probably lots of things I've forgotten.
How have you all been? I might get round to responding to some discussions if I don't get distracted or forget that you exist (I have did get to a point of almost forgetting my own name)!

It is quite a long post. I do tend to waffle
I began in youth theatre. I'd been out of it for a while (it's been a very long time since I was a youth) until I returned to the stage last year! It's only ever been amateur. I had missed it but thought I'd do the one show and get it out of my system... instead, I realised just how much I missed performing. I'm also much more confident now than I was when I did youth theatre.

Welcome back. Thanks for the update. I don't remember how long you've been gone. If it's been less than a year, then you know my husband passed away in January of last year. That's the biggest news for me. Right now I'm getting estimates for some work that needs to be done around the house. Hope you stick around!!!

I think it has been a few months since I've been here. I remember you telling us about your husband.
How have you been? Is there a lot of work to be done?
I do intend to stick around but my head is so full that sometimes some things just fall out of it.

My experience with autism, both professionally and personally, is largely what drew me to the role. The charity was set up a couple of years ago by someone I'd known when our children were little. The charity was set up because of how little real support there was after diagnosis, especially for adults or for young people transitioning from childhood to adulthood. I'm really proud to be part of it.
We can't wait to see the new baby. We saw the others last summer for Baby3's birthday.
