Today my friend in a village called me. He asked me not to go to the jungle till April. He told me that a herd of wild elephants had unleased terror in our neighbouring states.
He was right. In winter wild elephants reach our rural area, enter villages in search of food. This is harvesting season. They destroy huts of farmers and eat the paddy
This year one of the elephants in the herd that has entered our neighbouring states has gone rough. He has trampled and killed as many as 13 people in last nine days
Every year the farmers beat drums and burn crackers to scare away the beasts. Sometimes the herd gets scared and leave the village, but sometimes they get furious and attack the villagers. Now the elephants seen to have got used to. the sound of drums and crackers.
I have decided not to go to the jungle till March-;April.

@Shivram59 That is very sad. I wish there was a way to distract the elephants from destroying and killing.

@velvet53 Actually elephants should not be blamed They enter villages and town because we human beings have occupied their area. They come here looking for food

Thank you I'll wait till March end. It's really very scary to go there now. Till today the number of people killed by the beasts reached 19.

@Shivram59 You're welcome. And I'm glad you won't go walking in the forest until the elephants are gone.

@fahmita_ They do both. They damage their guts and if anybody comes their way to scare them out of the village, they chase and kill them Elephants can run at a speed of 60- 70 kms.

@Shivram59 Do they only damage property in your village, or do they attack humans as well?

Thank you. By today the number of people killed by the elephants reached 19. The forest department officials tried to tranquilize the rough elephant, but failed.
