The Giant Beetle

Traveling along the highway in Colorado Springs, Colorado, you might be surprised by a giant beetle. It is thought to be the world’s largest beetle. It is behind a barbed-wire-topped fence with signs of warning about video surveillance. The statue sure can be a surprise. This is because the beetle was once the victim of vandalism. It was created in the mid-1950s and is a gigantic West Indian Hercules beetle. It had been moved once to Weeki Wachee Springs, Florida, but is now back at its original location.

I have seen it myself. When I lived in Pueblo I would go to Colorado Springs a lot. There are many big statues there. Even horses made from barbwire. Pretty interesting.

That is one thing America still does well, make giant things, bugs, dinosaurs, aliens, balls of yarn. Other places have castles, we have the biggest lobster statue in the world.

@RasmaSandra Technically, there was already one. Trump holding hands with Epstein. It keeps getting taken down for some reason though.

@LooeyVille someone was very creative. Funny how the bug was taken to Florida and then back to Colorado,

I bet at night it looks really freaky. I mean sure, in daylight it would too, but especially at night. See me as an example. At night, I am very scary!!!

@AmbiePam I keep purple lights like Christmas lights on all night and my LED clock is lit up by my bed, I want to be able to see everything around me when I wake up,

Was it once alive? Or is it a sculpture?
