Today starts the week-long festivities of our small city for her 155th Annual Patronal Fiesta 2026.
Jan. 19 - Moda season 3 - Doña Hortencia Salas Benedicto National High School
Jan. 20 - Mr. & Miss 2026 coronation - La Carlota South Elementary School 2
Jan. 21 - La Carlota North Elementary School: parade, playground demonstration & Mr. & Ms. 2026 Coronation
Jan 22 - La Carlota South Elementary School 1- Ginoo at Mutya ng Lungsod 2026 coronation
Jan. 23 - Drum and Lyre Competition 2026
Jan. 24 - Survivor Acrobatics Show & Don Petok Band

We don't have any festival today, but we had a very important festival on 14th of this month - Majar Sankranti. On. this festival we bath in our local or the nearest river. Most people bath in our holiest river the Ganga.

I remember we have similar activity like that. We do it every 24th of June. It's Saint John the Baptist day. Most people go to the beach to bathe.

@Nakitakona Thank you for enlightening me about this. I didn't know. From the Makar Sankranti on days begin becoming longer and nights shorter The temperature starts going up and after a month or two the Spring season sets in

Usually it lasts for 2 days. But here the festivity extends to a week-long.

I think the Philippines are rather unique for city festivals, as we do not have them here in Australia, apart from some held annually in the capital cities. I have attended a few Filipino town festivals myself. One in Pangasinan was a big one.
