Using a Chiropractor

I grew up thinking chiropractors were kind of fake medicine. I saw it a lot on television being ridiculed, but as I got older I put more stock into them. Now, most of you know about my car accident that left me with a damaged neck and back (spine). When I was 25, I had had plenty of procedures, but no surgeries. I was, at that point, walking hunched, with a cane. In came Dr. Love (his real name). He had helped my dad with his neck (you might remember he finally had to have major surgery on it 2 years ago). So I went three times times the first week, and once every week thereafter. It only took him three sessions, and I no longer needed the cane. It was amazing. Of course, I had to subsequently still have surgery because (my) insurance, before and after disability, did not cover chiropractic services. He was inexpensive, and he have my dad a discount for being a pastor, but that discount did not extend to me. I wish all chiropractors were as good as he was.

I love Chiropractors but some are better than others. When I worked out all the time, I went to Dr. Dave once a week and he adjusted my spine and taught me how to lift correctly. He was a great guy! Unfortunately, he passed away unexpectedly so I had to try a couple of other chiropractors. The next chiropractor didn't know what he was doing and I only used him once. The third guy was just as good as Dr. Dave... I still see him once in a while when I need my back adjusted. (My insurance now will only pay for a chiropractor twice a year.)

I’m glad you found someone trustworthy. It’s just such a shame they only cover two visits; I guess that’s better than none though.

@AmbiePam True... I had to see the chiropractor when I was having so much trouble with the nerves in my hips last year. (Sciatica) One visit and he adjusted my hips/back and I was pain-free again.

Sometimes the positions you have to be in are comical.

I always heard they were a joke as well. However, I went to a pregnancy one and they helped me tremendously! So, I am grateful for them.

I was doing the chiropractor thing in November and December, but I just can't afford it. My health insurance only pays for the actual spinal manipulation and not all the other things the chiro does like decompression and stim pads. Plus, my insurance only pays for 12 visits a year

Mine only did a rolling table and a spinal manipulation. It’s a shame more insurances don’t cover it because it prevents so many further issues. My sister’s family, sans the youngest (6 year old), all go to the chiropractor (insurance covers it). It’s helped my sister’s minor scoliosis, and my nephew is so attuned to his body that he can predict where the chiropractor needs to adjust him each and every time.
