Ever Slipped on Snow While Hiking?

Before that day, my husband surprised me with hiking shoes and an insulated jacket. He also packed food and water for our hike in his backpack. We didn’t eat breakfast at home, just grabbed a jasmine milk tea and a sandwich to eat while he was driving. When we arrived, we met some fellow hikers, which made us feel safe and welcomed. The challenge started when we encountered snow on the path. Some of it was already dried and slippery, and unfortunately, we slipped twice. The hike that was supposed to take 3 hours ended up being just 2 hours. My husband’s knees got minor scratches, and his palm got a small cut from hitting a sharp piece of snow. I noticed he was getting tired, so I suggested we head back. He apologized, but I said it was okay. Even after that, he asked if I wanted to go hiking again next weekend. I’m a bit worried about the snow, so I told him maybe we can stay home and do some general cleaning instead.Despite the slips and scratches, it was a fun adventure, and I’m glad we tried it together. The photo I’m sharing is from the hike. I took it myself and loved how the trail looked with the snow. Have you ever slipped on snow while hiking? How did it go for you?

Well if I were you, I would go hiking again and the general cleaning can wait. Nothing quite like a good hike in the snow on a nice cold crisp day. To be honest, lol, there ain't much snow on the photo.

Haha, you’re right! The snow doesn’t look like much in the photo. It felt more slippery than it looked! Maybe we’ll try again when conditions feel a bit safer

@annierose Lol that's funny. I know you wouldn't have got much snow in the Philippines and I understand your concerns But a good pair of hiking boots and an " I will not fall" attitude would see you safe Be confident..lol

@Ineeddentures Snow is still very new to me, so I get a little cautious. The hiking boots definitely helped, but I think I still need to build that confident “I will not fall” mindset. Maybe with more practice, I will get there someday

I have never hiked in snow before but I have slipped walking on wet roads in the countryside of Panama.

That sounds scary too. Wet roads can be just as slippery as snow. Glad you made it through safely.

It’s a beautiful shot! I admit I don’t usually hike in the snow. It gets so icy! I have a difficult time getting down my apartment stairs because of the snow and ice. I’d like to try hiking in the snow though. It sounds fun!

I have hiked in the snow when I was younger. I've found the less snow, the more icy it is and more of a fall risk. I prefer deep snow to walk in.
