It's Going to Be The Snow Storm of the Century

United States
January 23, 2026 6:40am CST
Nearly half of all the states in the continental USA are going to get hit by this massive snow storm this weekend with huge dumping of snow on some areas, ice on others, mixtures on some, and just cold temps in others. My "crap app" is saying 5-6 inches tomorrow and 13-16 inches of snow expected on Sunday. I haven't looked at my local weather tv guy's blog yet this morning. 1994 was a HUGE blizzard here that shut down our city for over a week. I remember it well because my furnace died in the middle of it. I had just bought the house 3 months earlier. Lucky for me the house had a wood-burning fireplace that kept me warm because repairmen couldn't get out in the blizzard. I guess we've got everything we need to be prepared for this. Mostly just STAYING HOME!

The freezing drizzle has started, but the snow won’t start until noon, here. We did have a blizzard about ten years ago. I’ll never forget that simply because you don’t associate a blizzard with Oklahoma.

It was 7 below zero this morning; and this cold will continue for the next week. Fortunately I don't have any appointments until February 5. I remember 30 years ago when it was 20 below zero. I took a picture of the thermometer. Stay safe and warm.

We need these every so often so the kids can understand what we mean when we talk about 1994 and 1978.

Now that I'm following the US News, on YouTube, I have seen the wintery conditions, not that that does justice to the amount of snow falling and the freezing

This is one of the few times I am glad to be farther north. We are not supposed to get as much white stuff

This mess will start for us overnight Sat into Sunday and projected totals will be around 14-18 inches. Looks like a real mess for many of us. Guess I won't have to worry about our HOA arguing if there's 3 in of not for them to come and shovel. Stay Warm!
