Welcome back to me

I've missed all my MyLot buds for many months now. I had total knee replacement on my right knee last August, and the past few months have been all about pain management and becoming able to do things for myself again. I am nearly back to normal, I think. It was a grand day in September when my therapist suggested that I should start using a cane instead of my walker. I still had a lot of pain, but it felt like true freedom when I found out I could manage it. I could cook for myself (believe me, my husband is no cook.) and I felt mobile enough to get back in church. True freedom. I was well on my way to recovery after that.

I'm glad you feel good that you can use a cane now. My husband kind of uses one. More like he'll hold it like a weapon of mass destruction.

I didn't have to use the cane for very long. I kept forgetting it and walking off leaving it places so I figured I didn't need it anymore.

@clrumfelt You probably didn't. George tends to perfer eletric carts in stores and scooting around in the wheelchair at home. When he walks the tip of the cane is a few inches off the ground, but he'll stop and lean on it if he needs a break.

Wow, what a journey! Trading the walker for a cane and getting back to cooking and church sounds like true freedom So glad you’re almost back to normal!

I think the biggest milestone was being able to sleep in bed again. I slept in a recliner for months because I couldn't operate the pain of lying in bed.

Welcome back! It is wonderful to see you, and I hope you will check in more often. I know knee replacement is a major event. My dad had one that did not go well, and he was in pain for a good year. We think he just got a bad surgeon who prescribed a pain med my dad told him has never worked on him. So my dad did it without any pain medication whatsoever. Like you though, he was very happy to be able to get his freedom back. Church especially was something he missed. I’m sure your husband was also thrilled you could cook again. I hope he realizes how blessed he is to have you do it!
