Broadway show on a snowy Sunday

I had two tickets yesterday to a Broadway show Chess musical. I had purchased them at a 2-for-1 discount. With fees, it was $100.50 per ticket. I was very excited going there with my mom but unfortunately I ended up going there by myself.
It was snowy weather yesterday, and there were issues with transportation. First, I had to walk a long time to the train, then take the train to the ferry, then take the ferry into Manhattan, and from there I had to take a subway to the theater.
My mom was supposed to meet me at the ferry, but she was never able to get there. She was supposed to make the train that I was on, but she missed it by only a few minutes, which was very disappointing. Had she made it onto the train she would’ve made the show.
She waited for the next train but it never arrived. After waiting for about 1 1/2 hours with no train in sight she gave up and left. She was too tired and cold to try alternate ways of getting to the theater and just went home upset and majorly disappointed.
After I got to my train, I only had to wait for it for four minutes, which I think was luck because I had no idea when the train would actually arrive. Everything was going fine, but then after a certain stop, we sat idle for a while because a train in front of us was stuck. We had to wait for that train to start moving again before we could proceed. I have plenty of time still to make it. When I finally got to the ferry, my mom was still waiting for her train so I had to wait for her at the terminal. It turned out to be a very long wait so because of that my commute took much longer than it should have. I left the house around 10 o’clock and got to the theater around two.
The commute was crazy but I do not regret going there. The show was amazing even though it seemed like a lot of the actors were under studies instead of original cast members; perhaps that was due to the fact that original actors weren’t able to make it to the show due to the weather. I got lucky that at least originals like Lea Michele and Aaron Tveit were there. I would’ve been majorly bummed if they weren’t.
I do not understand why they didn’t cancel the show, but it is what it is. Now I have to figure out what to do about my mom‘s ticket. They usually do not do refunds or exchanges, but being that this was a winter storm, they should be accommodating and either offer a refund or allow us to use her ticket for a different show day.
Yesterday the teller charge website had a rebook ticket option but today it is gone. I tried to call Telecharge and was on hold for a while. I left my phone number so they could call me back but so far no one did. Perhaps the office is closed today because of the weather; though the automated message never said that.
I do not want to lose that $100. And I want my mom to see the show. We can always just get another ticket, but I don’t wanna do that yet until I figure out if her ticket can be used again or if it can be refunded.

I'm sorry your mom didn't make it; and I hope you can get another ticket for your mom. I'm glad the show was worth the commute.

Just called and on hold again for a while. I may need to set up a callback again. But who knows when they’ll call back. It could be while I’m showering or unable to pick up. Frustrating.

Did a callback. Waited for them to call me back for a bit. They didn’t so went to take a shower. They called me back while I was in the shower.

I hope they work with you on the ticket. I can’t believe the ordeal to get to the theater! But I’m so glad that at least Lea Michele was there. Having the main actors in it would have been imperative. I imagine loads of people had problems getting to where they wanted to be yesterday.

Now I don’t know if the majority of the people that saw the show were tourists or those that actually live in Manhattan, but the theater was packed. I thought a lot of people would not be there because of the weather.

I felt really bad that my mom didn’t make it after her ordeal. But there was nothing I could do. I’m glad I went to the show though because in the event her ticket cannot be refunded or used for a different show at least not all the money went to waste. It would’ve been very disappointing if I didn’t go to the show and lost all the money.

@lovebuglena It would have been a great day for people in Manhattan to go.

It was definitely worth it. I do not regret suffering through the commute to get there. The only thing that I am upset about is that my mom ended up missing the show because of the stupid train that wouldn’t arrive.

There are tickets for less available usually. Depends where you want to sit.
