Let Me Explain What Type of Care Mother-in-Law Is Getting

Mother-in-law is/was a shopaholic. She went though money like water. She didn't have any money, any retirement, any savings. She lived on Social Security alone and spent every penny of it each month. But her husband, my deceased Father-in-Law was a member of the Masonic Lodge. A 32d Degree Mason I believe. As such, that entitled her to "Widow Care" by the Masonic Home, which is a BEAUTIFUL facility. Her meager social security gets assigned them them every month and if she'd had any assets, they would have taken them, but she didn't have any but maybe $500 in her checking account, and they take care of her every need for the rest of her life. The facility she's living in costs $9,000/month but she will just pay her meager social security which is less than 1/6 of that amount. They will house her, provide doctor and nursing care, laundry services, 3 meals per day and unlimited snacks, cleaning services, therapy service, any surgeries or rehabilitation she may need, eyeglasses, dental care, you name it - it's covered for her for the rest of her life. It's such a blessing that she has access to this level of care and we don't have to worry about her. She has Alzheimer's and it's progressing very rapidly. She cannot live alone. This Memory Care facility provides daily mental stimulation and activities and specialized care for dementia patients. We are very happy that she has moved into this facility.

This is absolutely incredible, coverage and care like that is pretty much unheard of these days. Especially adding in the medical needs and care. I know she is really progressing quickly and it's so sad to watch, she is no doubt so confused and scared at times about what is going on and all the changes. It's too bad that she had so many clothes it became a complete burden for you to sort and deal with. I think it will do her good to make some new friends and enjoy activities there.
