Cheese, onion and mayo sarnie for tea …..

So, for my tea this evening I had a cheese , onion and mayo sarnie …..I wonder if everyone knows we all a sandwich a sarnie ! Anyway, Mom had some lovely farmhouse bread and I had cheddar cheese and Spanish onion ( I know several of us have had the conversation before about a Spanish onion, sometimes called cannonball onion ). I find sometimes the onion is too hot so I have mayo on the sandwich too. I haven’t had this for ages….and boy, did I enjoy it ! Have you had this sandwich ? What is your favourite sandwich filling ? What bread do you use?

I would have put yours in our toastie machine Need cheese and onion to be toasted And I would add chilli sauce

How hot is the onion? I can't eat things that are too hot. I have had a Maya (sweet) onion with cheese on potato bread. That's delicious. I LOVE turkey with American cheese on potato bread... Sometimes I heat the sandwich in the microwave for breakfast.

@DaddyEvil that might work …. Usually you can tell when you cut into it … stronger smell, does it make your eyes tingly ….if it does, it’s gonna be a hot one !

That doesn’t sound too good to me, but it could be because I only eat grilled onions. My dad though, could eat one raw. Once, at a church scavenger hunt the mission was to eat what was in the paper bag. He ate a white onion like an apple. My mom told him to brush and use mouth wash before he tried to kiss her again.

This onion is meant to be eaten raw. Yes kissing after onions or garlic is dodgy

Nope. Never had that sandwich before. I love my mom's egg salad sandwich recipe. I'm the only one who knew how to make it. None of my siblings do. When mom prepared it when I was a kid, I would usually help her. My favorite sandwich though is the one made by a restaurant here that closed down many many yeas ago. The restaurants name was Try Me and they called the sandwich Try Me del luxe. It's actually just a clubhouse sandwich but with their exceptionally special sauce. Unfortunately, the last time I had it was when I was in high school and that was in the 90s.

No raw onions for me. I like chicken salad, egg salad...I have to eat white bread.
