So, for my tea this evening I had a cheese , onion and mayo sarnie …..I wonder if everyone knows we all a sandwich a sarnie !
Anyway, Mom had some lovely farmhouse bread and I had cheddar cheese and Spanish onion ( I know several of us have had the conversation before about a Spanish onion, sometimes called cannonball onion ). I find sometimes the onion is too hot so I have mayo on the sandwich too.
I haven’t had this for ages….and boy, did I enjoy it !
Have you had this sandwich ?
What is your favourite sandwich filling ?
What bread do you use?

How hot is the onion? I can't eat things that are too hot. I have had a Maya (sweet) onion with cheese on potato bread. That's delicious.
I LOVE turkey with American cheese on potato bread... Sometimes I heat the sandwich in the microwave for breakfast.

@Traceyjayne Oh, I see... So I should offer you the first bite and only eat it if it doesn't bite you back.

@DaddyEvil that might work ….
Usually you can tell when you cut into it … stronger smell, does it make your eyes tingly ….if it does, it’s gonna be a hot one !

The hotness can vary. You never can tell until you start one.

Nope. Never had that sandwich before. I love my mom's egg salad sandwich recipe. I'm the only one who knew how to make it. None of my siblings do. When mom prepared it when I was a kid, I would usually help her.
My favorite sandwich though is the one made by a restaurant here that closed down many many yeas ago. The restaurants name was Try Me and they called the sandwich Try Me del luxe. It's actually just a clubhouse sandwich but with their exceptionally special sauce. Unfortunately, the last time I had it was when I was in high school and that was in the 90s.
