He said UH-OH! First Word!

My six year old autistic grandson is nonverbal, but he learned recently how to say uh-oh and we say it back. It's just so amazing that he is trying to communicate with us. He started to speak before he was a year and a half old, but once that age came around we lost him, since he wouldn't make eye contact or notice us at all. Thanks to all his teachers, school and at home, I think he will be able to speak again. He's our precious angel.

Yes, we are so happy. When my daughter got him off the bus yesterday, he looked at her and said uhoh right away.

I think he will too. The language is there apparently. It is just trapped inside.

That’s wonderful news to my ears, too! I’m a retired teacher and have taught general and special education. It’s amazing what supportive staff can do as well as concerned parents. High-five from me!
