Should teaching staff be allowed to take holidays in term time ?

I saw this headline in the freebie newspaper this morning ……i was looking for free coupons so didn’t have time to read the article ….
I am interested in your thoughts …..
Should teaching staff be allowed to take holidays in term time ?

No
They get enough holidays as it is.
In Scotland it's 12 weeks
If you cannot organise your holiday in 12 weeks you shouldn't be teaching
And if you make exceptions, they all want to do it.

Holidays are more expensive out of term time ….do you think that’s fair …why should teaching staff have to pay more because they can’t go at any other time ?

I beg to differ.
People with kids at school have to beg to go on holiday out of term time and more often than not get refused to take kids out of school
Like I said, teachers have 12 weeks to organise a holiday, the same as anyone with kids they teach

Even teachers aren't slaves and have lives that don't revolve around the school year. As long as they have vacation time built up that they can take, nobody should be able to tell them when they're allowed to take time off.

Not sure what it’s like in America ,but here in the UK we don’t build up holiday time.( in schools etc ) Staff aren’t allowed to take holiday in term time.

@Traceyjayne If that's true, then they wouldn't be allowed to take time off during the school year. Even pregnant women would still be forced to give birth in the classroom.
