When I was asked to be the advisor of the Baking Club I was told that I could use the life skills classroom as it has a fridge, stove/oven, sink, etc. It also has a TON of cooking supplies, dish towels, oven mitts, etc. The former advisor only did decorating contests but I was encouraged to incorporate actual baking. The kids really want to do that too.
The life skills teacher is beyond OCD (seems to be a theme in that wing). The first time I used her room we did caramel apples. I cleaned up everything as best I could but left one pot soaking in the sink because some of it was overcooked on the bottom. I left a note saying that I would wash it in the morning. When I got there she had already done it and made some kind of comment about having to rewash some other stuff. Okay. Lesson learned.
So we did homemade cinnamon rolls over the course of 2 days this week. Yesterday we baked and frosted them and then the students ate them. I paid very close attention to making sure everything was spotless. The only thing I left in the sink was my 9x3 baking pan because it was still hot after coming out of the oven and I didn't want to deal with trying to hand-wash that. Again I left a note saying I'd do it first thing today.
Nope. She already had it washed by the time I got in. I apologized but really I shouldn't have had to. Its not my fault that she gets to work at 6am and has raging OCD. Its not my fault that I was given permission to use the room and equipment. Still I'm not going to let her craziness (and yes she is crazy in other aspects of her life too) deter me from doing baking projects with the students. They are way too excited to keep going after this latest cinnamon roll adventure.

I hope that teacher is not too much of a bother to you.

There's nothing she can do about me using the room or even the equipment. It isn't her personal property--it is the district's. She can complain about me but I did the best I could to make sure there was no evidence that we were there. . . aside from the 1 baking dish that I was planning to wash first thing in the morning today.
