The Ambulance Comes Once a Week in the Middle of the Night

The old curmudgeon next door to us let a friend move in when his wife left him a couple of years ago. The friend is our age and has Stage 4 Cancer, yet he still smokes. Lately the ambulance has been coming at least once a week if not more, always in the middle of the night, picking up the man with cancer. He'll be in the hospital a day or two and then return and then a day or two later the ambulance will come.
