All of the supermarkets are doing deals on meals for Valentines Day. Usual combination….. Starter Main Side Dessert Drink …….the prices range I think from £10 to £25 depending on where you shop. Got me wondering ….what, given the options above , would you choose for a Valentines meal ?

I wouldn't buy any of them Just more Valentine's Tat. Have you seen Tesco offerings, Starters Camembert with Garlic & Parsley Dough Balls Mains Salmon & Prawn En Croûte, Beef Bourguignon Pies Sides Garlic & Parsley Ciabatta, Creamy Buttery Mash Desserts Heart Shaped Macarons, Banoffee Pudding They have really cut corners and there ain't no way it's a £20 meal, unless of course you are buying food because it sounds good Don't forget the cheap nasty prosecco or the cola

I didn't realize there were special meals for Valentine's Day. When I was dating or married, I always asked what my girlfriend or wife would like for the meal and that's what I made. *shrug*

@Traceyjayne It's very rare for us to worry about a starter. My favorite main meal is pork roast (but Pretty isn't fond of pork so I rarely make it) with mashed potatoes and homemade bread rolls. Sometimes I also make fried green beans to go with the meal. We usually don't bother with a dessert but my favorite is pecan pie. And water for the drink.

I would go to either Red Lobster or Longhorn Steakhouse. I always get seafood at Red Lobster (which I can't have anymore but I will have a cheat meal) and chicken at Longhorn with one of their strawberry salads, stuffed mushrooms, chicken, mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. They have a decadent chocolate cake for dessert.

Hooray ! I have found someone else that likes sprouts ……I thought I was the only one in the world. A chocolate pudding is the best choice. I’ve never had lobster….

@Traceyjayne I love the way Red Lobster and Longhorn does their Brussels sprouts. They are either roasted or pan fried; and they add a bit of honey I think. Lobster is really good. So is crab.
