I knew needing a new bridge, and having a cracked tooth was going to cost, so I put off going to the dentist. Do I fear dentists? No, I fear their bill. Today, I went, and yeah, it’s going to cost thousands. In addition, with the new work done, I’ll also need a new dental guard. Who can pay that? You guessed it, my long suffering father!
Now, this dentist is a really good guy.
About 16 years ago I needed a new bridge, and we were right in the middle of my mom’s dementia battle. It’s cheaper to put her in a nursing home, but we wanted to keep her at her own home. So there was no money. This wonderful dentist got together with his dental lab, and they paid for my bridge. It was a gold one too (he said he feared I’d crack a regular bridge due to my grinding teeth, even with a dental guard).
This time, he said to bring my dad in, and they’d go over the treatment plan, and they’d work something out. I told him my dad will tell him to just do what needs to be done, but he told me he really wanted to catch up with him anyway. This is still going to cost thousands, but maybe not as many thousands as I feared.
I hate costing people money. Tell me something good!

Glad your dad has you covered. Thank you very much but I will just stay with my broken teeth and holes. I can eat and I have no pain and it is just fine with me. Best of luck to you,

I'm so sorry you're going through this!
Good news...let's see. Well, I had a doctor's visit today that puts me one step closer to trying the spinal cord stimulater.
And Dale and I had a wonderful day trip yesterday without me being in too awfully much pain. God is merciful.

I know this is a stupid question, but what's a dental bridge? Is it like dentures?

They had to pull a tooth because the root canal years and years ago did not work. So you have to build an “appliance” to “bridge” the gap between your existing teeth, and the missing tooth.
You can’t see the missing tooth so I wouldn’t normally care. But if I didn’t get a bridge, my bite would be thrown off, and I’d start getting more and more dental problems. Which would cost even more. So the result is I have to get the bridge.

I was wondering how it went today. Oh dear ! Thousands ! You do have a lovely Dad though and I’m sure that between them, he and the Dentist will be able to sort something out for you.

I hope the dentist and your dad will work out something doable.

I know first hand just how expensive the dental work can be. It’s astronomically expensive and I do hope the dentist shaves some of the cost down!!
