So you helped me the other day when I couldn’t decide which rice to have, so I think I need your help again …..
My choices are ….
Chicken soup and toast
Fried potato sandwich, with brown sauce
Pilchard and rice …sounds strange but it is delicious….
So what do you think ?

Do you eat mashed potato sandwiches? I do but not very often. They're good.

@Traceyjayne I've eaten them since I was a kid on the farm. Mom liked them and made one for me when I was hungry and she didn't feel like cooking anything. Leftover mashed potatoes on a sandwich was easy and quick.

@DaddyEvil I think it’s the texture of the mashed potato….on a sandwich seems wrong …. Everything so squashy, if that makes sense.
I have mashed potato mixed with corned beef and sweetcorn in a toasted sandwich…..that’s ok as the toast is hard and crunchy, not soft.

Pilchard is a small fish 3 to 4 inches long. We get them in tins/cans in tomato sauce…..

Just cook the rice as usual …plain boiled ….and open a tin of pilchards …you can use fresh but I use tinned.
My Mom and Dad had this as a starter in a restaurant, years ago….. I think it sounded peculiar but was willing to give it a go ….its delicious. You can have the pilchard hot or cold.

@Traceyjayne OK I will give it a go one day when I need something for lunch. I don't often buy pilchards, but recently I've found that it seems to be impossible to find MSC-certified sardines so I might get pilchards instead, which seem to be OK.

It’s really good.
Boil sliced potatoes. Then fry in a skillet. ( we say frying pan ). Make into a sandwich and drizzle on brown sauce. Delicious…..
