The Strange Case of Origami Yoda

Sometimes your brain just needs a rest. Yesterday and today I have a horrible cough and cold. I thought I was mostly over it and went out on toad patrol (also because I was feeling too guilty not going) but that turned out to be a mistake and I ended up being much worse. So when I woke up this morning after rather broken sleep I felt I needed something not very taxing to read. I have a big pile of books waiting for my attention but they range from the studious to the complex and I just felt I couldn’t cope with anything like that. So I picked up this which I think is a children’s book. I had no idea if it would be any good – and I’ve never seen Star Wars – but actually I really enjoyed it! It was clever, amusing, and not too complicated, and I read the entire thing in one morning over a coffee. It was good to find something that just hit the spot. I don’t know what I’ll do tomorrow morning! All rights reserved. © Text copyright Fleur.

@Ronrybs No. I'm not much use at origami and not really interested in Yoda anyway! If you want to have a go the instructions are here though:

I hope you enjoy it, I will feel responsible if you don't! I did say it was a children's book.

@Fleura Yes, of course. But I love finding books to recommend to my nieces and nephew.

It's about a group of schoolchildren in the USA. One of them - Dwight - is a bit of a weirdo and a misfit. But he makes an origami finger-puppet of Yoda and this puppet apparently offers wise advice, Yoda-style, when any of the group ask him. So is Yoda real or just a piece of paper? Is Yoda just Dwight? But then why doesn't Dwight take Yoda's advice? Is it just a coincidence?

It's amazing you haven't seen Star Wars, but I guess it's not the type of movies you like.

I've never shied away from a good children's book. They can still be a really good read.
