~Kids Always Indoors in This Generation?~

Hey y'all! I hope you're doing amazing. If you woke up today, you have reason to praise and be grateful. =) With my last discussion a few points were made that I'm curious about.... Some people say this generation doesn't like to be Outdoors. Which I find strange and untrue-at least in my home. Are there less children outside now a days? Is it due to safety issues? Like I mentioned in the discussion I would NEVER trust my kiddos would get somewhere safely while riding their bike 3 blocks away. Apparently when I was younger my parents DID trust that I would. So, is it really the internet's fault if less kids play outside now? Is there truth to that at all from where you live? Or do you think like I do that it's actually a less safe place in this world we now live in? Or were all of our parents just naive in thinking we'd be fine to ride bikes and play outside sometimes blocks away from home? My kiddos love being outside by the way! I'm grateful for that. Yesterday we flew kites, played baseball and jumped on the trampoline. (The image is my boys and my Grandson jumping on the trampoline)

So when we were young 60,s and 70,s We were hardly ever indoors We played football in the parks Went to the beach Played in the streets etc etc. Now I can drive through the town during the weekends when we would be out playing, and there isn't a kid in sight out playing, not even in their own gardens It's a small town, safety isn't an issue, everyone knows everyone else I can only assume that kids do not play outside anymore. But it's down to the internet, mobile phones used as baby sitters and parents not really ensuring their kids get enough fresh air

My kids and my grandkids were always outside. They were always supervised and lived in safe areas. Parents need to monitor their own kids’ use of technology and set boundaries and time limits.

I think some ..parents are unnecessarily fearful honestly..A lot of kids play sports too and that is their outside time. BTW, it would be a lot better if that trampoline had an enclosure..plenty of kids get hurt on them unfortunately . Not being unnecessarily fearful..it's just a fact. Accidents could happen before you could grab them too.

Some children have become 'citified' and don't go outdoors much. It's sad. There are less kids outside because they are inside playing video games and watching TV. My grandson is 23 and still plays them. I used to go mountain biking and we were all more outdoorsy. Not so now adays. It happened before COVID even. For me and my grandson it was social anxiety. My daughter runs the errands and goes out. We don't much. Each time I look on YT and see what Trump is up to or ICE and I am glad to be inside. But, yeah, kids need the sunshine and need to be out in it enjoying what Mother Nature has made for us.

My family always lived in apartments so I had to be indoors but my parents took me to the park and during the summers I could spend in the Catskill Mountains of NY,

Some kids spend their time on their computers playing games. Cousin #3's boys are like that. Our parents let us play outside until the street lights came on. That's just how it was.

My son was always outside playing with his friends when he was still a child. I think parents should limit their children the use of their gadgets. It’s not good for their eyes.
