Generally there are high tides and low tides in seas. But in some destinations when there are high tides the water comes up to at least 2 km in front. During the low tides the sea moves back by 2 km. In Chandipur in Orissa the effect is called disappearing effect. In fact Chandipur in Balasore in Orissa is called the land of the disappearing sea.
