Joy to the world.

Today is the first day of 2026 that I have been able to hang a full wash of white shirts on the line to dry, confident of sunshine and a stiff breeze and no precipitation. It is truly an occasion of simple yet great joy, and I’ve alternated the white shirts with smaller items jubilant with bright colour. Now all I have left to do is to sit back and enjoy the garden while two burly men install a new radiator in my daughter’s bedroom. I thought it best to give the lady folk some money and send them out for the day so that their extra and unnecessary instructions and questions to the burly men don’t slow the men down so increasing the time they spend on the job. Do you like drying clothes in the sunshine? Does it fill you with joy or is that just me?

I no longer have a place to hang laundry but I did in Latvia and we always hung the laundry out to dry

I use a dryer. My allergies are so even if I had space to line dry my clothes, I wouldn’t.

I’ve used a clothesline before, but didn’t care for the bugs or stiffness of my cottons. I love my clothes dryer more. Clotheslines in my town up north are not allowed.

I enjoy it too but it's commonplace for me.

When I used to live in another neighborhood, I enjoyed placing the clothes on the clothesline.

I've always used a dryer. Drying clothes outside gives them a smell you can't get elsewhere.

I haven't had a clothesline in 45 years.
