Sister came home with some good news. Our niece just got 94 in the National Medical Admission Test. This means she could go to wherever med school she prefers. Including the top ones. My sister got over 80 only during her time and she wasn't able to get in to one of the best top med school in the country but she becomes a doctor anyway and an OB Gyne now. She didn't want to be a doctor though. Our niece, on the other hand, have always wanted to become one but her mom, our other sister discouraged her saying she might not be able to handle the pressure of studying. She was one determined gal though and I admired her for that. Now her mom has no reason to not let her pursue her dream. Congrats, our dear Lala. We will always be here to support you.

Congratulations to your niece! For those in your family who have become doctors, did they stay in your country to work, or did they go oversees to higher paying opportunities?

@moffittjc In my side of the family, there's no need to leave the country for a greener pasture. We simply cannot leave the businesses that our parents left us.

Yes. When I talked to her in January, I told her that she could really do it but she told me she might not. But she did it.

That’s sad her mother discouraged her. I’m glad she was able to score so well on the test and can go on to fulfill her dreams.

Right. We got mad at our sister for that and we continued to encourage her to pursue her own dreams anyway. Now, my sister is in full support and is very proud of her daughter. So all is well.

I hope so too. Another doctor in the family would really be great. She's a licensed medical technologist and now she has to study 4 years of med school and another 2 yeas for specialization.
