Couples often use the endearing term "Baby" when addressing each other. More recently, Baby has been shortened to "Babe," as in the song "I Got You Babe," Sonny Bono's attempt at expressing commitment and support for Cher and his love too. Songs with "Baby" in the title continue to be memorable and culturally significant, reflecting universal themes of love, longing, and connection.
So, below is my trio of my favorite songs using the word infant in a more grown up way. lol
1. BABY LOVE- A Motown gem by "The Supremes" in 1964, this was their second #1 hit to top the Hot 100 charts. This made the Supremes the first Motown Act and all-girl group to do so. Their success continued on as they achieved 5 consecutive #1's. This tune perfectly captures the essence of yearning for a lost lover, making "Baby Love" a statement to anyone who has experienced the feeling of wanting to get back together after a breakup.
2. BABY I'M A WANT YOU- This track is a soft rock ballad that became a hit in the early 1970s for the band "Bread." For soft rock tunes this is a classic and charted in the Top Ten (#3), and this mellow pop formula was successfully used on many tunes by this group. In the song's lyrics the singer expresses his heartfelt longing and need for this girl.
Fun fact: David Gates who wrote this tune recorded the hit song "Goodbye Girl" for the Richard Dreyfuss and Marsha Mason movie of the same name. The little girl in that film was a real cutie.
3. BABY BLUE- This melancholic power-pop ballad by "Badfinger" released in 1971 features vulnerable lyrics and a sad melody that tugs at the heartstrings. It's a song about lost love and regret, as the singer shares his bittersweet feelings over losing his long-distance relationship with his girl "Dixie." Dixie was a real person who was band member Peter Ham's former girlfriend. This sorrowful farewell song has become an enduring classic cherished by fans worldwide.
TRIVIA CHALLENGE- NAME THAT MYSTERY TUNE!

4. These "4 guys" were together 11 years before hitting it big with this "soulful Baby titled song" in 1964. This tune was the first of many "Motown hits" for the group and they became one of the "most successful acts" on the label. In the song this "lonely and heartbroken man" is not afraid to "beg for some lovin." The singer pleads for the girl to "give him all of her lovin'." The group had two #1 hits called "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)" and "Reach Out I'll Be There."
1.*DO YOU KNOW THE NAME OF THIS SONG AND MOTOWN GROUP?
2.*CAN YOU REMEMBER A NAME OF A BABY TITLED SONG I DID NOT MENTION?

@LindaOHio Ha, ha. Yes, the singer says "Baby, I Need Your Lovin, Got to Have All of Your Lovin."
Clue- The singer pleads for the girl to "give him all of her lovin'."
That was a tricky one!
