Have Your Parents Influenced Your Goals in Life?

You often hear of children following in their parents' footsteps. This can be true in many ways, one very common is career choice. Going into your father's business would be an example, first working for him then eventually taking over when he retires. Another example I thought of was Hollywood and acting. There have been many children of well-known actors and actresses who also decided upon the same career. Some of those children are Drew Barrymore, Michael Douglas, Kate Hudson and Colin Hanks, to name just a few. In my case, my dad was a service station owner and I spent many high school weekends and evenings working there. At the time I thought I would have the same career, it wasn't until I went to college that I eventually went from a business major to deciding on teaching as a career. But interestingly, my younger brother was influenced enough and decided to become a mechanic and work with my dad. So, he did follow in my dad's footsteps...
