Good Morning 3/17 Dangerously windy

There are 39,000 people in the area without power. Last night I estimated the winds to be about 70 MPH. I am lucky I didn't lose my own power, although last night I could hear branches and possibly other objects hitting the roof. It was so windy the windows rattled and I was a bit afraid they would blow in. They were actually rattling in the frame. Anyway, I inspected this morning. Most of the property looks clear, but there are several downed branches on the deck. It could have been far worse. I am sure the news will be full of tales from the area. Were you ever in a violent wind? I am certain Amber and Marie Coyle have been.

@Tampa_girl7 That's good, high up here too, compared to the water.

@snowy22315 We live in the hilly side of Mississippi. Parts near us flood, but our home is too high up to ever flood. We are even with the road in our front, but slope steeply in the back of our property.

Oh yes. We’ve had 84 MPH gusts as the highest recorded in Louisville. And those have been recent, too. The remnants of Hurricane Ike came through in 2008 and knocked out power to about 3/4 of Louisville.

@FourWalls Dang!!! I found a large branch in the driveway, and on my walking route there was a medium sized tree down.

@snowy22315 -- and dangerous. Cut two houses in half a couple of miles from where I live. (No injuries, thank God!)

Oh, yeah. Oklahoma is famous for the wind, hence the song about the wind “come sweeping down the plains”.

The winds has been crazy here this morning. I can't remember the last time it's been this windy. It's insane. Thank goodness I still have power.

You are fortunate not to lose power. That's what I'm afraid of during the typhoon season here. It's hard without electricity.

I've never experienced like that even though our country always experience heavy rainfalls with winds, flood due to typhoon. Our place only experienced like a leftover of what other experience. 1 to 5 percent of it. But it's always feel sad and devastating seeing people go through such experience.

@snowy22315 yes, but some says we are always prone to a raining bullets. Which is likely true to some areas nearby.

Not much wind at the moment, hope it doesn't kick up again. I don't think it is supposed to.

Yes,those winds can be terribly destructive and dangerous. They have been wild and crazy this year. I am glad you didn’t have any more damage than you did. I live in tornado alley, like Amber, but she gets the most tornadoes basically anywhere in the alley. We all have learned over the years to be weather aware.

Good, I knew something was going to happen yesterday, because the sky was pure gray and still. It didn't have a normal look.
