Letting go can be painful but it's worth it

rogunI had a best friend i had to cut off recently. She is actually the closest friend i had and really valued her but the whole things felt emotionally draining and tiring. Like i was giving more than i was receiving. I really didn't mind the fact that i was giving more, but what hurt me was the fact that in everything it felt like i was more of an option than a choice. I decided to cut things last year but really missed our friendship and even when i was not at fault, decided to reach out again this year. I honestly tried to make it work, but it felt like i was still the only one trying, and i was feeling drained all over again. Maybe it isn't worth it? It hurts but i had to finally let go this time around. The biggest lesson i learnt so far during all this is self love and self worth. It's high time i focus on my self.

You are so right. You have to put yourself first sometimes. That’s not selfish either. We can’t be in one sided relationships and expect to be at our best.

Yes, you should come first. If you don't love yourself, you can't love other people. I've had friends just like that and had to let them go. IF they wanted the friendship to continue, then they could come to me for a change. They didn't so I knew my decision was the right one.
