A Sibling No One Saw Coming

A baby born like a "Do Re Mi" thankfully not the full "Fa So La Ti Do" that a mother has to take care of. The first three of us were born just a year apart. Then came the unexpected one. Much younger and always a few steps behind us in everything. While we were already working, he was still in school chasing dreams we once chased ourselves. Honestly, who would've thought that the sibling no one saw coming, the kid who just started kindergarten would one day walk across the stage and graduate in college? It really made us realize that all of our mother's sacrifices were worth it. And today is my youngest brother's graduation day. After so many sleepless night finishing his thesis, he finally made it! It goes to show that even the most unexpected beginnings can lead to some of the proudest moments. Do you also have a unexpected sibling? or a moment in your family that turned out to be something special or a happiest day of your life? PS. If my father is still alive, I'm sure he'll be so proud. My father died when my youngest brother is two year old.

@LadyDuck that must have been nice. I and my brother's that only a year apart aren't close when we were kids, we keep on fighting Except my younger brother since our age gap is a decade so we are close. We all honestly dotted our younger brother.

@Jehanne But you were just a year apart right? So he was still practically just a baby too when you were born.

You should be so very proud of him as well as your mother! What a wonderful accomplishment. My husband was one like your baby brother.

@Jehanne So happy for your mother, too. Yes, my husband was spoiled rotten by his family. I put a stop to the madness immediately when we got married

We all are. Finally my mother can breathe with the finances. She can now happily enjoy her pension alone. Oh! Your husband, as the youngest for sure he does experience being dotted by everyone even though it's unexpected.

@Jehanne Oh you misunderstand It is legal to abort in Scotland and I am glad women have that choice. It was not legal in 1960 when I was born If my mother had been able to abort me she would have

@Ineeddentures I did missed that! Thankfully at that time it's not legalized yet. And it's good to know something about your country. What's the reason it becomes legal to abort in your country? Because here in the Philippines, it is still illegal.

We were all surprises. My mother only had one good fallopian tube and that side didn't consistently produce eggs. So her and dad had signed up to adopt when I came along. Then a few years later my brother. A few years after my sister.
