So we have unusual Meningitis B outbreak here in England, the more serious bacterial one. One person has managed to infect 30 people. It was known as the kissing disease and 1-in-10 of us have the bacteria in our throats at anyone time but can only infect others, not ourselves. It's a 10% killer when a person passed the infection and takes 30-35 lives a year form 400 or so cases. It's very rare and rarer still for this many people to get it off one carrier. The super spreader event started in a nightclub on Saturday night but experts cant workout why it spread so quick? Are we dealing with something new here? It spreads fast in the gay community, they say, perhaps more promiscuous as those bodily fluids passed around.
Anti Vaxers have been swarming social media saying that its an engineered virus to kill young people. Queues of worried students lining up for the vaccine just wanted to be safe. They are smart people. I keep explaining to the anti-vaxers that if Big Pharma want to kill us all then why not let natural disease do that by not inventing vaccines? I also explain to them that people are their business model. They need them alive to sell them drugs they probably dont need until they are 80 and some to make the billions? Some of these anti-vaxers have no problem smoking or drinking. Conspiracy theorists
If there is another pandemic it's going to be carnage with those antivaxers, and their innocent family members. So many people, post Covid ,have lost trust in medicine the deaths will be significant. People online amplify their mistrust and now we have measles and things on the resurgence. Parents are not vaccinating their kids because of guff online. It doesn't help when the US Health secretary is an antivaxer either.
There is an interesting fact about pandemics. Covid was in the category the people trying to protect their countries citizens fear the most. Although just a 1-3% death rate thats not enough for people to care so many ignore lockdowns and the disease spreads rapidly around the world. Counterintuitively, if the death rate is 25-50% but spreads just as fast it's easier to contain and kills hardly anyone as people listen real quick and the authorities can contain it. 1-3% of everyone on Earth dieing is in the millions , what happened with Covid.
Bird FLu is the next big fear, a ten fold killer to Covid as it produces significant virus mass in animals. People have had it but of the 120 or so known cases in humans, half have died. Of course that does not mean thousands more have had it and no one knew as their symptoms were mild so that stat meaningless but if it was to spread from human to human it would adapt real quick to survive. Virus do adapt. They dont want to kill the host quickly as they need to spread to other living bodies. Covid became less dangerous but more viral overtime to survive. Spread more, kill less...
It does appear we do have

@thedevilinme the level of stupidity in the world can be proven by a glance at the law suit brought against Wakefield, who created the 'MMR causes Autism' story because he wanted to introduce his own vacination.
It was a big case but the idiots don't know about it... they know what drooling influencer say, and believe them. In a way it is a positive as the population o idiots should decline.

I have had over a 100 vaccinations. I never get sick and if I do its because I drank to much.

Whooping cough and measles are getting a hold here. I haven't heard about an outbreak of meningitis - yet!

anti vaxers are to convince the unnecessary population to sicken and die.
When I was in Primary school we used to get a milk and cookie every afternoon. One morning, while I was wandering around the hall I overheard one teacher telling others that they only got 1/2 the cookies ordered.
After some discussion the teachers decided to spread a rumour that the cookies were stale. They'd mention it in front of the class bladder mouths.
In an hour most of the kids heard that the cookies were stale.
When it was cookie time, most of the kids declined. I was told to carry the remaining cookies to the next classroom.
I ate two cookies, they were fine.
The next class also had uneatten cookies and me and another girl carried them to another class.
I never forgot that even. So when I heard the usually anti-vaxer rubbish...
