I was very cold!

I got very cold today. Do you know the kind of day when it doesn’t seem all that bad at first, just a bit chilly, but then because you are in it for a long time and not moving about too much you just get colder and colder? I have been working as a steward this past week at a craft event which has been really interesting – more about that later – but today my main role was to stand outside being the ‘meeter-greeter’. This morning was overcast and really windy. Later we had some sunny intervals which were lovely but in spite of that the wind chill was significant. Then at quarter past four we had a sudden and quite violent hail shower! (Luckily I was able to shelter from that!) I had checked the weather forecast this morning so I thought I was prepared, with thermal tights under my trousers, boots, and on my top half a vest, a T-shirt, a jumper, a shirt, a jacket and a raincoat, plus fleece gloves. And I had plenty of hot drinks available. But I still got chillier and chillier and by the time the working day ended I was really quite cold. I was glad to be able to get on my bike and I made an effort to cycle faster than usual just so I could warm up. Thankfully it did work; by the time I got home I was almost too hot again! The picture shows the clay modelling studio.

I started reading what you were putting on the top half and thought you were never going to stop! The cold does get through eventually, doesn't it?

Somehow it's worse than just going out when it's really cold. Thankfully today is less windy.

@Traceyjayne I saw an advert for 'events staff'. I had plenty of experience as a steward/ usher at the theatre, cinema and at music events as a volunteer so it was just the same except I get paid! If you search for events staff or staffing agency or something like that in your area you should find something.

It got really hot today here. Getting home from the ER tonight my apartment was roasting since no air had been running while I was gone. So I’m trying to picture how cold your day must have been in order to cool myself off!

Yes, very nice morning here, then blustery and chilly. The cats barely went out. Seemed a good idea to me!

I don't do this sort of thing often enough to be worth it. But I am wondering whether to take a skipping rope and skip in between sessions to get warm!!

@Fleura I have heated gloves They work a treat, a full charge lasts about 4 hours if switched on and just left switched on I've seen socks as well. Might buy some next winter

It looks like a very inviting place. You were wise to wear so many layers, but sometimes that wind can be so damp that it does right through you, and it sounds like that was the wind you had today.

Standing in a cold wind will do that. Glad you got warmed up
