I was very cold!

I got very cold today. Do you know the kind of day when it doesn’t seem all that bad at first, just a bit chilly, but then because you are in it for a long time and not moving about too much you just get colder and colder? I have been working as a steward this past week at a craft event which has been really interesting – more about that later – but today my main role was to stand outside being the ‘meeter-greeter’. This morning was overcast and really windy. Later we had some sunny intervals which were lovely but in spite of that the wind chill was significant. Then at quarter past four we had a sudden and quite violent hail shower! (Luckily I was able to shelter from that!) I had checked the weather forecast this morning so I thought I was prepared, with thermal tights under my trousers, boots, and on my top half a vest, a T-shirt, a jumper, a shirt, a jacket and a raincoat, plus fleece gloves. And I had plenty of hot drinks available. But I still got chillier and chillier and by the time the working day ended I was really quite cold. I was glad to be able to get on my bike and I made an effort to cycle faster than usual just so I could warm up. Thankfully it did work; by the time I got home I was almost too hot again!
